“Lead Me To The Cross…”

By Theresa Calderini on October 23rd, 2010 »

I love it when I get the opportunity to relax in my craft studio and create. I love it even more when I get absorbed with the item I'm creating and have an opportunity to ponder something while making it. You can imagine that whenever there is a cross involved there's some pondering taking place!Cross2

I went to my husband Mark some time ago with a rough idea for a cross that I could stitch on paper. He took what was in my head and created a template for me that when stitched, created this cross. How amazing that two people can join in talent and create something so beautiful!

I was blessed earlier in the year with being able to teach other woman how to do this type of stitching at a crop to raise money for missions through our church. The design was well received and many enjoyed the opportunity to stitch the cross which could then be used on a card, scrapbook page or framed if they wanted. I love it when I have the opportunity to be surrounded by such talented ladies!

This card is a 5.5" x 5.5" card, the cross is stitched with gold metallic thread on a deep indigo BazzilCross 1  paper. It was then mounted on a gold stripped paper and then laid on the card base which was the same deep indigo Bazzil paper. I inserted gold brads in each corner and then wound gold thread around the corners to create a square around the cross.

This card could be used for pretty much any occasion a person would want, I choose to keep it in my craft room until the perfect occasion comes along!

Hope you enjoy! Until next time.

Theresa

I love this idea. Do you have a pattern for winding the thread/wire to create the cross?
