Remembering the Love of a Child

When our grandson Adam comes to visit, we are guaranteed a time of pure excitement, lots of laughs and plenty of hugs. Adam has such a sweet innocent spirit, he has no predetermined judgements, no hostility or angry feelings towards us (even though we have to say “no” on occasion) and no sense of entitlement – he unselfishly gives love to everyone with each smile, hug and kiss. He is a beautiful grandson whom we have grown to love beyond measure and cherish our time with him!

In 1 Corinthians 13:11 Paul writes, “When I was a child, I talked as a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.”

This is my first post in several months……

I have missed capturing my thoughts on the keyboard and through this blog, while also craving an opportunity to create something to share with you. So many of you have brought my recent surgery under prayer, you lifted my situation and my family up to God and He has done a mighty healing through this past few months for which I am so thankful!

Following surgery, I felt like a child in so many ways. I had to learn to walk again, how to sit, how to care for myself, how to do most things throughout the day which I had taken for granted before. My heart is humbled as I continue to heal, to strengthen and to walk in life again…..God is truly faithful and His mercies have been so visible in each day for me.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to spent more time with my heavenly Father each day, He has placed special people around me to care for me and to love me unconditionally. He has Himself come alongside me throughout these past few months and gently carried me to where I am today. I’m not fully healed and know that I may never get back to the way I use to be physically….. being able to walk swiftly, to run, to jump, all things I enjoyed doing in days gone by. I’ve come to realize that a simple walk in the evening with my husband, an opportunity to talk with my family and friends on the phone, being able to watch Adam ( and now our newest grandson Chase!) play and laugh are the real blessings in life and not to be taken lightly.

I’m so thankful to be able to spend small amounts of time being creative as I’ve missed this, and I have missed all of you! I have so many creative ideas that have been placed in my heart that I want to share with you through this blog and I know I will….. in time. To create a card and a post takes much more time and a whole lot of energy, so….. baby steps for me!

Out of every situation in life, there is an opportunity to learn and grow, a new way to look at things differently ….. I love that about life! I’ve learned to slow down, to enjoy the life I have been given and to love those most precious to me. I’ve also learned that to place faith in God is the only way to walk through a difficult situation. He is always with us, carrying us when we are too weak to walk on our own.

Again, can I just tell you how special you are to me? I thank God for each opportunity He gives to spend time with each of you….. whether it be in person, on the phone and even electronically!

I had created this card before surgery but never had the opportunity to share with with you. Isn’t this little girl precious? There is an innocence about her that makes me smile. Handcolored using Copic Markers, this little lady is sure to bring a smile to her recipients face! The young girl is a digital image, created by Krista Smith, Saturated Canary LLC. As with many of my other card creations, this beauty comes with a coordinating gift box making it not just a card but a gift in and of itself!

Thanks for visiting, I look forward to spending more time with you in the upcoming days!

I have visiting your splitcoastcoast stampers site, but have been wondering where you’ve been. When I went in this am, I found your note regarding your surgery. Be assured my husband and I now have you on our prayer list. We are Christians who feel blessed to pray faithfully for many in our three churches (2 churches in TN where my husband served as a minister for 36 years, and the church in FL to which we are now retired. Your cards are ones I have been keeping in my favorites, and I know that with the Lord’s help, you will be able to continue your card ministry. Love, Nancy

    • Hi Nancy!! Thank you sooooo much for your note!! I am “on the mend!” so to speak…..3 surgeries in one year requires a whole lot of healing! I have a wonderful physical therapist, a very supportive family and group of friends and for this I am blessed. Thank you for remembering me in prayer! How wonderful that you and your husband have been in service to God for so many years!!

I have a few more creations I’ve been able to complete and will be posting them soon. I hope to continue being able to make cards and use them to bless others and to share with them the story of a God who loves them so deeply!!

      Be well!
