The Payment for Being a Mom is “Pure Love”

"If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been."  ~Robert Brault This quote describes my "Maine Mom" exactly! I know that whatever circumstance or event I'm going through that she's aware of she's praying over me and my situation....this brings me such comfort and reminds me how special our relationship is! Maine Mom is the one that gets many of my cards which she sends out to other people needing support and encouragement. We joke that someone must be "card worthy" in order for her to send a card! lol! Actually, knowing her, there are no qualifications, if your name is pressed on her heart, she'll be sending you a card.....I love that about FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

I Will Walk Beside You

A few years ago I went shopping for a new pair of shoes, I wasn't searching for anything in particular, just something unique and special that I could wear with multiple outfits. I came across a pair of crocheted black shoes and fell in love with them. I loved them even more when I saw they came in other colors so I bought 3 pairs of the same shoe, in black, red and grey! Instead of wearing just one pair, I had the opportunity to wear all 3 pairs with many outfits.....oh, they were such comfortable, beautiful shoes! I created this card in pink which will be one of my "Cancer Cards" for this weeks Crafting for a Cure arts and crafts festival in Tampa. I loved the simplicity and elegance FULL STORY HERE....... Working Around the Inspiration Block

We've all been there (haven't we?)..... We step into our studio with the intent of being creative and nothing happens! We try and try to create, to make the next work of art and.....nothing! Whether you create for a living or, just create to create, running into a "block" can really be frustrating can't it? I've had those days.....often they run in a row and I can't seem to get beyond them. I was talking to a fellow artist one day and this subject came up so I asked the question of her "what do you do on days you are blocked?" She acknowledged having times with little to no inspiration but said she learned a long time ago that even though she is unable to create something new, FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

Strength Hope Faith – Finding A Cure

Good morning everyone and welcome back for another post supporting breast cancer and finding a cure! I was browsing the internet and came across a similar layout which I just fell in love with! Notice the image on these two creations? Yes! It's the same image that was used in my previous post which you can read about here. (The image, created by Krista Smith, Saturated Canary LLC is called “Boobie Love”) Since this is a digital image, I was able to resize it and make her bigger with focus on her upper body. I'll be honest in telling you that coloring her with Copics was much easier with the image larger because there are several areas with tight spaces (I was never one to be FULL STORY HERE....... Crafting for a Cure – Boobie Love!

It's extremely difficult for me to create something without understanding its purpose. You'll notice throughout my blog posts that along with many of my creations comes a story that is related to the creation, I do this in hopes of helping you understand that there is much more to a creation than just the physical item that is made. I'm inspired by stories, all types of stories which involve people, songs, places, pictures, if it's got a story, I'm going to want to understand it! This story took me a while to wrap my arms around because its such a tough subject. We are all aware of breast cancer and the impact it has on lives, but there is a deeper story behind the word cancer and I wanted FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

Blue and Bling Collide

It's a "butterfly, bling and blue" week for me it seems.....and I'm ok with that! I've been trying to act responsibly and use up some of the "excess" design paper I've got on hand this week, it seems that I could create forever and still have paper left over....what an excellent problem to have! The designer paper on this card is from Stampinup, I had enough left for 3 cards.....got to find some more as I am in love with this paper! I decided to add a geometric layer using a Martha Stewart punch, if you measure your paper just right (for this one, it's 3 3/8" x 5") you can get a wonderful pattern to add onto your creation. I'll never grow tired of these Memory Box butterfly die FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

My Decision to Divorce the World

My decision to "divorce" the world was not an easy decision to make for me. I've been on a journey, and at each bend in the road I've struggled with what path to take, knowing that there was a right one and one that would be not so right. Let me explain how I arrived at this point... Several years ago I left the "corporate" world, desperate to identify where God was leading me on this journey called life. I returned to school to obtain a counseling degree, in my mind I believed that I was destined to work with foster children or broken women, or possibly as a death educator. All these options are unique to themselves but I had this "feeling", deep down inside of me that God was taking FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

Elegant is as Elegant Does

I am deeply mesmerized by the power of black and white when used together in something I create! I began this morning with no idea as to what I would create. All I knew was that I was going to pull down one of the cigar boxes I picked up recently and somehow incorporate it into my project. I sunk into a chair, gather paper samples, mixing and matching things for quite some time, but nothing was creating an "ah ha" moment for me, so I decided to stop and step away for a while. I went for a walk as this always helps me to refocus.....breathe in....breathe out....don't forget to walk......lol! Out of nowhere, I remembered a statement from Mr. Bivens which has come to me quite frequently FULL STORY HERE....... Read more

Sweet Hour of Prayer

What began as a desire to use a song sheet in a card, turned into a day spent pouring over the words of this hymn, and recognizing the opportunity for a deeper, more meaningful prayer life with God. When I decide to create a card / card set that shares my faith, I am able to spend time reading Scripture, listening to music, talking with my Heavenly Father and creating. I've learned that if I don't willingly enter into a place where I can close off the world and be alone with God, my ability to create is affected. I'm blessed to have this special time with Father, it is precious and sweet to me. I grew up singing this song and hearing my father play it on the marimba. If I close my FULL STORY HERE....... Bursting Black and White

Hi everyone! It's me.....it's early....and I've got something new to share! I'm good with #1 & #3.... it's #2 - the "it's early" thing that I'm not sparkly about. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful and blessed to be able to walk through another day and I don't take this for granted. It's the "early" thing that rocks my smile this morning. We have a "ginormous" king size bed with a pillow top mattress.....oh yeah, this thing is the center of my sleeping universe!! It's soft and enfolds me in warmth and coziness each night that I go to bed. If one could prove that a bed loved them......I would be the one to prove it because deep down, I believe my bed does in fact have love for me. FULL STORY HERE....... Read more
